Paul Supporters Plan Pub Crawl

By Gregory W. Wallace (gww@primaryinsider.com)

Supporters of Ron Paul will be out in full force tonight.

They won’t be sign waving, lit dropping, or otherwise traditionally campaigning.

Instead, they’ll be on a pub crawl.

From the Nashua Telegraph:
The pub crawl is intended to promote federal legislation, dubbed the “Keep Your Tips Act,” that would exempt gratuities from federal and payroll taxes.

The legislation is sponsored by Paul, although the pub crawl isn’t affiliated with his presidential campaign.

After spending the day knocking on doors in Nashua, Paul supporters plan to meeting at Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant in Manchester at 7 p.m. to kick off the crawl. Around 8:30, it will move to the Shaskeen, followed by Penuche’s Grill and Strange Brew Tavern, and wrap up at McGarvey’s at 11 p.m.
The event does not appear on the candidate
’s official website.

Cain Criticizes Obama at G.O.P. Fundraiser

By Gregory W. Wallace (gww@primaryinsider.com)

Speaking at a New Hampshire G.O.P. fundraiser this week, businessman Herman Cain talked taxes, criticizing President Barack Obama’s policies which he says stifle business.

Mr. Cain was speaking in Dover at the fundraiser to bolster the state party, which, according to reports, had only $1,300 cash on hand recently.

From Patch.com Portsmouth:
Cain described the national healthcare reform act and the Dodd-Frank financial reform legislation passed into law during the Obama administration as “deform” bills. Instead of passing laws aimed at helping American businesses’ do better, Cain said President Barack Obama has approved policies that are more fit for the caboose rather than the locomotive needed to power economic reform.

He said the federal government needs to reduce the corporate income tax and ‘take the capital gains tax down to zero.”

Cain said the capital gains tax “is a wall” that prevents businesses from creating more jobs and people from investing in small businesses that have good ideas.

If elected President, Cain said he would push to get rid of the existing federal tax code and replace it with a flat, single rate Fair Tax. These and other changes would allow the United States to “become the most business-friendly nation in the world. Right now we are the most unfriendly business nation in the world.”
The Associated Press story from Mr. Cain’s New Hampshire visit: “Herman Cain: Bachmann's migraines are a non-issue.”
